Woman shot while sitting in car in Calumet Heights

The 21-year-old was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 9100 block of South Marquette Avenue when someone shot her in the back, according to Chicago police.

A woman was shot while sitting in a vehicle Tuesday in Calumet Heights on the South Side.

The 21-year-old was sitting in a parked vehicle about 1:20 p.m. in the 9100 block of South Marquette Avenue when a male approached, pulled out a handgun and shot her in the back, according to Chicago police.

The woman drove away before her passenger, who was uninjured, took over and drove her to Trinity Hospital, police said. Her condition was stabilized.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
