Charges are pending against a driver who crashed into a woman, killing her Monday in Jefferson Park on the Northwest Side.

A 58-year-old man was driving eastbound about 4:22 p.m. in the 6200 block of West Gregory Street when he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle head-on, Chicago police said.

A 33-year-old female passenger in the struck vehicle was taken to Resurrection Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Autopsy results released Tuesday said she died from the crash, according to the medical examiner’s office. Her death was ruled accidental.

The driver of the struck vehicle, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Charges were pending against the man Tuesday evening, police said. Chicago police’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
