Man killed in Calumet City shooting

Rodney Nelson, 18, was shot at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Sibley Boulevard.

Jacob Taylor, 19, was charged with a felony for shooting a 26-year-old man in Schaumburg.

An 18-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday in south suburban Calumet City.

Rodney Nelson, of Riverdale, was shot at 1:37 p.m. in the 1400 block of Sibley Boulevard, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead about four hours later at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

An autopsy Wednesday found that Nelson died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide.

Calumet City police did not respond to a request for details.
