1 home, 5 garages burglarized in Beverly: police

The burglar breaks a window, then enters the home or garage, police said.

The man lost control of his motorcycle and struck a wall on Lower Waker Drive, police said. — A residence and five garages were burglarized in August in Beverly on the South Side.

Chicago police are warning Beverly residents of a burglar targeting homes and garages in the South Side neighborhood.

On Aug. 17, the burglar broke the window of a home in the 9000 block of South Damen Avenue and stole jewelry and electronics from inside, Chicago police said in a community alert.

Police believe the same person is responsible for burglarizing five garages that were targeted in the same fashion:

Three times between Aug. 18 and Aug. 25 in the 9000 block of South Damen Avenue;
Between Aug. 21 and 22 in the 9000 block of South Hoyne Avenue; and
Between Aug. 25 and 27 in the 9000 block of South Hamilton Avenue.

In these instances, the burglar took bicycles and lawn equipment from within, police said. These burglaries happened between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
