Two men were wounded — one fatally — in a shooting Saturday in West Garfield Park, police said.

About 2:25 a.m., 23-year-old Johnny Parris was sitting in a vehicle while a 28-year-old man was standing next to him in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Someone unleashed gunfire at the pair.

Parris was hit in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled Parris’ death a homicide. The medical examiner’s office said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the flank.

The older man was struck in the leg and taken to the same hospital, police said. His condition was stabilized.

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are investigating.
