A woman was critically injured in a shooting Friday near southwest suburban Lockport.

The 52-year-old woman was shot multiple times in the torso about 12:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Riverview Avenue in unincorporated Lockport Township, the Will County sheriff’s office said.

She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later airlifted to a Chicago area hospital, where she was stabilized, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives processed the surrounding area for evidence and interviewed potential witnesses, authorities said.
