Officers found Willie Coker, 42, outside and unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the chest, authorities said.

A 42-year-old man was killed in a shooting Saturday in South Chicago.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 12:22 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Burley Avenue and found the man outside unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, Chicago police said. 

He was outside with a group of people when shots rang out from an unknown direction, police said.

Willie Coker was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy conducted Saturday ruled his death a homicide, saying he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

No arrests have been reported. Area South detectives are investigating.
