A man was killed and a woman hurt in a shooting Sunday in Austin on the West Side.

The man was sitting in a parked car about 10:13 p.m. at a gas station in the 5600 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue when two men walked up to him and opened fire, Chicago police said. He was hit in the chest and buttocks.

Deon Nelson, 21, was rushed to Stroger Hospital where he died about two hours later, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy released Tuesday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and ruled the death a homicide. Nelson lived a few blocks from where he was shot.

The woman, 21, was grazed in the leg, arm and she was treated on the scene, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
