A man found Wednesday in a burning vehicle on the South Side was shot to death, according to an autopsy.

The man was found dead in the passenger seat of the burning vehicle about 10:45 p.m. in the 5900 block of South Parnell Avenue of Englewood, Chicago police said.

An autopsy found the man died of multiple gunshot wounds, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was identified as 75-year-old William Edward Spann Jr., according to medical examiner’s office. He lived in Chatham.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
