A 28-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday in Austin on the West Side.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 1:03 a.m. in the 500 block of North Lawler Avenue and found Anthony Jones unresponsive on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest and groin, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Jones was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. There are currently no witnesses to the shooting.

An autopsy Sunday ruled Jones’ death a homicide by a gunshot wound to the chest, the medical examiner’s office said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
