More than $360K worth of ecstasy, meth, pot found during raid of Avalon Park home: cops

A felon with a criminal history dating back to the early 2000s was arrested last week after Chicago police officers found more than $360,000 worth of ecstasy, meth and marijuana in his Avalon Park home.

Court records show that Phillip Loveless, 34, was charged with manufacturing between 400 and 900 grams of meth, manufacturing more than 1,500 ecstasy pills and manufacturing/delivering between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis.

Police say they also found a loaded handgun that was reported stolen in Indianapolis last month, and Loveless was also charged with being an armed habitual criminal and possession of a stolen firearm.

He was ordered held without bail last week. His family could not be reached Wednesday.

A gang enforcement team executing a search warrant arrested Loveless shortly before 9 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Avalon, according to police records.

Once inside the home, officers found 7,951 ecstasy pills, 500 grams of meth and another 67 grams of marijuana. All together, the drugs had a street value of $364,177, according to Loveless’ arrest report.

After his arrest, an officer asked Loveless about the ecstasy and meth that was found. According to the report, Loveless replied, “I have a little bit of X and only do it sometimes.”

In a statement, CPD spokesman Tom Ahern said: “Our specialized units and district officers will continue to focus on, and hold accountable, individuals who possess illegal weapons and drugs that are causing havoc in our communities.”

Court records show Loveless was sentenced to prison five times between 2004 and 2015 for convictions that include possession of a controlled substance, retail theft, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
