Man shot dead in Maywood forest preserve

A 29-year-old man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound at 2:15 p.m., police said.

A man was shot to death Thursday in a forest preserve in west suburban Maywood.

Authorities responded to the Maywood Grove preserve near 1st and Des Plaines avenues and found a man with a gunshot wound, according to the Cook County Forest Preserve police.

Johnny Flores, 29, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Maywood.

An autopsy released Friday found Flores died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.

A spokesman for the Cook County Forest Preserve police said it was investigating the shooting with Maywood police. Maywood Police Chief Valdimir Talley said he did not have additional information about the homicide.
