A man was beaten and shot Sunday at his home in Logan Square on the Northwest Side.

The 45-year-old was arriving home from a wedding about 3:30 a.m. when a group of four to six males approached him in the 1700 block of North Rockwell Street and started flashing gang signs, Chicago police said.

The man ignored the group and kept walking to his home, but once he was inside one of the males pulled out a gun and began to hit him in the face, police said. The man then tried to retreat into the hallway of his building, where he was shot twice in the foot.

The man was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital where he was treated and released, police said. The group of males fled the scene.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
