Police are warning residents of a recent string of thefts to vehicles in Pilsen and University Village on the Lower West Side.

In each of the incidents, someone broke a rear passenger window and removed items from the vehicle, Chicago police said in a community alert.

The thefts happened:

  • overnight Jan. 1 in the 1600 block of South Halsted Street;
  • about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 2 in the 1600 block of South Halsted Street;
  • about 11 p.m. Jan. 7 in the 800 block of West College Parkway; and
  • about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 1300 block of South Halsted Street.

Police, who did not provide a suspect description, asked anyone with information to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
