Police are questioning someone in connection to a New Year’s Day fatal stabbing in south suburban Steger.

Officers were called for a well-being check 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and found 28-year-old Ryan S. Connell dead with multiple stab wounds inside a home in the 3600 block of Chicago Road, Steger police said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they arrested a person of interest and believe the stabbing happened during a fight.

The investigation is being handled by the Steger police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
