A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday while driving in west suburban Aurora.

About 10:10 p.m., police responded to the area of Dearborn Avenue and Beckwith Street and found Salvadore Sciascia, of Aurora, in the wreckage of a crash with a gunshot wound to the chest, the Kane County coroner’s office said.

An investigation found that Sciascia was shot while driving, causing a “motor vehicle mishap,” the coroner’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary autopsy findings Wednesday ruled that Sciascia died of the gunshot wound, the coroner’s office said.

The Kane County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating.
