A 57-year-old woman was found strangled Sunday morning in Austin on the West Side.

A man driving about 7:45 a.m. in the 4900 block of West Hubbard Street found the woman unresponsive in a vacant lot, Chicago police said.

Tyrina M. Phipps was pronounced dead at the scene and the cause of death was later determined to be strangulation, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy ruled her death a homicide.

No arrest has been reported.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
