Man fatally shot in Back of the Yards

The 24-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the head Tuesday in the 4600 block of South Hermitage Avenue, police said.

A 24-year-old man died Wednesday after being shot a day earlier in Back of the Yards.

He was found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head about 2:41 a.m. Tuesday in the 4600 block of South Hermitage Avenue, Chicago police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

The man, identified as Misael Alvarez, died at the hospital at 3:49 p.m. the next day, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Back of the Yards.

No arrests have been reported. Area One detectives are investigating.
