A 34-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in a motel in south suburban Lansing, according to police.

Officers responded to a call of gunfire about 11:47 p.m. at the United Motel, 2249 Bernice Rd., Lansing police Lt. Al Phillips said in a statement.

They found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in a motel room, he said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as being Eugene Stigler. He lived in Riverdale.

Police took someone into custody in connection with the shooting, which investigators believe is domestic related. The person was released without being charged, police said.
