A 27-year-old man was shot and killed while waiting at a red light Wednesday afternoon in Longwood Manor on the South Side.

He was inside a car in the 9500 block of South Halsted Street about 11:50 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, Chicago police said in a statement.

The man was shot in his back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Richard Powell, a resident of Englewood.

Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
