A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Friday morning outside a gas station in Humboldt Park on the West Side.

Preston L. Kennedy was standing in the parking lot of a gas station about 1:25 a.m. in the 3700 block of West Chicago Avenue when someone in a black sedan fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
