A 29-year-old man was shot at, but not hit, Monday during an attempted robbery on the Near North Side.

He was walking south in the 700 block of North Rush Street at 2:15 p.m. when someone tried to steal his property and then fired three shots in his direction, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Spicuzza said in an email.

The man hurt himself while falling to the ground, Spicuzza said. He refused medical attention.

The gunman drove east on Superior Street in a silver-colored Ford Explorer, Spicuzza said.
