A 39-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday inside his home in Burnside on the South Side.

Darnell Mack was inside his home in the 500 block of East 89th Street about 5:35 a.m., when three males entered and fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Mack was struck in his left buttocks, once in his lower right abdomen and once in his lower back, police said. He was rushed to Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy said Mack died of his injuries, and ruled his death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area Two detectives are investigating the shooting.
