A 19-year-old man was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting Wednesday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

Quinton Brooks and the other man were walking about 10:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 69th Place when someone got out of a black SUV and opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Brooks, 19, was struck in the head and upper body, and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, authorities said.

The other man, 23, was shot in the back and was taken to the same hospital in critical condition, police said.

Thursday morning, a police spokesperson said the 23-year-old had died, but said later that he was still in critical condition.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.
