A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday in McKinley Park on the South Side, police said.

About 2 p.m., he was on South Marshfield Avenue when he was shot in the abdomen, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the fatality.

A gun was recovered near the scene, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
