Man found fatally shot in Austin

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found the 36-year-old just before 1 a.m. in the 700 block of North Lotus Avenue, Chicago police said.

A man was found shot to death Thursday in Austin on the West Side.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found the 36-year-old just before 1 a.m. in the 700 block of North Lotus Avenue, Chicago police said. He was unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the head, chest and back.

The man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Demarcus Martell Moore.

An autopsy confirmed he died of his injuries and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
