A man was shot to death April 16, 2020, in the 5200 block of West Newport Avenue in Portage Park.

A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting Thursday in Portage Park on the Northwest Side.

He was sitting in a parked vehicle about 9:20 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Newport Avenue when a male shot him multiple times, Chicago police said. A friend drove him to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified as Nayya Malik Z., Thames-El of Brozeville, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
