A 28-year-old man has died after being wounded last week in a shooting that also injured a 2-year-old in Gresham on the South Side.

Rodney Woods, 28, died Monday at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was inside a vehicle with the 2-year-old when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said.

The attack happened about 6 p.m. April 17 on West 84th Street, police said.

Struck in the back of the head, Woods crashed the car into a porch in the 8400 block of South Damen Avenue, authorities said.

The toddler, shot in the foot, had his condition stabilized.

An autopsy found Woods died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the Wrightwood neighborhood.

Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
