A man was killed Tuesday in a shooting in South Deering on the South Side.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert about 10:35 p.m. found the 27-year-old unresponsive in an alley in the 10600 block of South Calhoun Avenue, Chicago police said.

He had multiple gunshot wounds to his head and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, police said.

He was identified as Daniel Patrick, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy confirmed he died of his injuries and ruled his death a homicide.

Area South detectives are investigating.
