A 62-year-old man was attacked and robbed Wednesday in Old Town on the Near North Side.

About 12:15 a.m. he was walking in the 1300 block of North LaSalle Drive, when he was approached from behind and punched in the eye by two people wearing all black clothing, Chicago police said. Once he was on the ground they went through his pockets and stole cash.

The pair of robbers were last seen running south on LaSalle Drive, police said.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment, police said. He is in good condition.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
