A suspect is in custody following in a fatal January shooting at a gas station in south suburban Blue Island.

Frank Hunter, 20, of Chicago, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Matthew Jones, 27, Blue Island police said in a statement.

Officers responded to a call of gunshot victim Jan. 21 and found Jones with multiple gunshots at a Shell Gas Station at 11901 S. Western Ave., police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced died, authorities said. Police said the crime was not related to the business.

Hunter was arrested April 1, more than a month after an arrest warrant was issued Jan. 27, court records show. He was ordered held without bail.

He is due back in court May 20.
