Man shot to death in Austin

A man was killed in a shooting Wednesday in Austin on the West Side.

The 36-year-old suffered a gunshot wound about 5 p.m. in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to Chicago police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Johnny Cox. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
