A 22-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday in Morgan Park on the Far South Side, police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 9:10 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 112th Place and found a crashed vehicle with two men inside, Chicago police said. The driver had been shot before crashing his vehicle.

Malik Delphie, of West Pullman, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the chest and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

The other man, 21, suffered injuries in the crash and was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.

Area Two detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
