Man shot dead at auto body shot in Berwyn: police

Brian Brown, of Berwyn, had his vehicle at the auto body shop and was unhappy with the progression of repairs, police said. As a result of an altercation, it appears that a gun battle broke out between him and a shop employee, and Brown was fatally shot.

A 30-year-old man was killed in a shooting at an auto body shop Monday in west suburban Berwyn.

About 7:30 p.m. officer responded to Hit Em’ Hard Customs, 6320 W. Ogden Ave., for calls of shots fired and found a man lying on the ground and unresponsive, Berwyn police said. First responders attempted life saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation by Berwyn police found that Brian Brown, of Berwyn, had his vehicle at the auto body shop and was unhappy with the progression of repairs, police said. As a result of an altercation, it appears that a gun battle broke out between him and a shop employee and Brown was fatally shot.

Several handguns were found both inside of the business and on the street next to Brown, police said. Employees from the body shop were detained by police for questioning.

An autopsy ruled Brown’s death a homicide.

An investigation is ongoing.
