Englewood Homicide: Rodney Dushaun Hampton found shot dead on 66th Place

Officers found Rodney Dushaun Hampton unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 45-year-old man was found fatally shot July 12, 2020, in Englewood.

One man was killed and three people were injured in a shooting Sunday in Englewood on the South Side.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot about 9:47 p.m. found a man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds in the 700 block of West 66th Place, Chicago police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as 39-year-old Rodney Dushaun Hampton of Englewood. The medical examiner’s office initially misidentified him as John Hammock.

Soon after, three other people showed up at St. Bernard Hospital saying they had been shot at the same location.

Two men, 27 and 33, and a 20-year-old woman were all shot in their legs, police said. They were all in good condition.

Witnesses on the scene were uncooperative with investigators, police said. Area One detectives are investigating.
