A 16-year-old boy was shot Wednesday in Austin on the West Side.

He was on the street about 7:24 p.m. in the 5000 bock of West Monroe Street when he heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition with gunshot wounds to his legs, police said.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
