Man, 53, dies days after Little Village shooting

A man who was wounded in a double shooting last week in Little Village has died from his injuries.

Florentino Carranza, 53, was pronounced dead at 9:56 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

On June 30, Carranza and Wilmer Cortez, 26, were on the sidewalk about 3:07 p.m. in the 4000 block of West 26th Street when someone approached them and opened fire, Chicago police said.

Cortez died shortly after the shooting at Mount Sinai, officials said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Four detectives are investigating
