A man was killed in a shooting Thursday in Austin on the West Side, police said.

He was standing outside of a convenience store about 3:39 p.m. in the 400 block of South Laramie Avenue when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The 36-year-old was struck in the head, chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Dilonte McDaniel, of Little Village.

An autopsy ruled his death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office, saying he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
