Man fatally shot in Mayfair

A man was killed in a shooting Friday in Mayfair on the Northwest Side, police said.

He was on the sidewalk about 7 p.m. in the 4600 block of North Kasson Avenue when someone approached in a dark-colored SUV and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The 18-year-old was struck in the abdomen and chest, police said. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Danny Brandy Jr., and an autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
