A man was fatally shot and a woman wounded Wednesday at a Gresham gas station on the South Side.

They were outside a gas station in the 8200 block of South Halsted Street about 9:15 p.m. when someone inside a passing dark-colored minivan fired shots, Chicago police said.

Markive Mack, 33, ran into the gas station and collapsed inside, authorities said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died of a gunshot wound to his arm, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Police initially said he was not struck by gunfire.

His death was ruled a homicide.

The woman, 28, was grazed in the upper thigh and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.

Area Two detectives are conducting a death investigation. No arrests have been announced.
