A 26-year-old man was shot and killed Monday evening in Albany Park on the Northwest Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 8:30 p.m. when someone unleashed gunfire in the 3600 block of West Argyle Street, Chicago police said.

Ernie Perez was shot in the armpit area and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Area Five detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

In July, a 14-year-old boy was shot and wounded in the same block.
