A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday in Homan Square on the West Side.

About 12:30 a.m. he was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 600 block of South Spaulding Avenue, when he was shot, Chicago police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as being Darryl Barfield. He lived in Homan Square.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
