A 31-year-old man was killed in a drive-by Monday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

About 1 a.m. he was walking in the 1400 block of East 73rd Street, when someone in a passing black SUV fired shots at him, Chicago police said.

He was struck in the left shoulder, the armpit and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Jeffery Edwards, of Marquette Park, and an autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Area One detectives are investigating.
