1 killed, 1 wounded in South Shore shooting

A man was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting Thursday in South Shore, police said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 9:15 p.m. and found the pair inside of a car that had crashed into a building in the 7600 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, Chicago police said.

Davion C. Wright, 18, was shot multiple times in the chest and arm and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Hickory Hills. Autopsy results ruled his death a homicide.

The other man, 20, was struck multiple times in the leg, police said. He was taken to the same hospital in critical condition.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
