Man killed in Uptown shooting

He was riding a bike on the sidewalk in the 1000 block of West Winona Street when someone started shooting at him, according to Chicago police.

A man was shot to death Thursday in Uptown on the North Side.

He was riding a bike on the sidewalk at 11:33 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Winona Street when someone started shooting at him, according to Chicago police.

The man was hit multiple times and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s identified him as Jerome Allen, 29. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide. He lived in Gary, Indiana.

No one is in custody, but a weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
