Man fatally shot in Bronzeville

An 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting Monday in Bronzeville on the South Side.

He was near an alley about 4:20 p.m. in the 200 block of East 38th Street when someone opened fire, striking him in the head and chest, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Jimari Williams, who lived in the neighborhood where he was shot, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy confirmed he died from his gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

Area One detectives are investigating.
