Man charged with attempted murder in Nov. 2020 shooting

Lavontae Cross allegedly shot and wounded a 35-year-old man after getting into an argument with him, police said.

A Bellwood man faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting and wounding a 35-year-old man in the Austin neighborhood.

Police arrested Lavontae Cross, 20, Wednesday in the 0-100 block of N. Western Avenue after being identified as the gunman in the November 23 shooting, Chicago police said.

Cross allegedly approached the victim around midnight in the 5100 block of West Kinzie Street in Austin. After a short argument, Cross shot the victim in his chest and torso, police said.

Cross is also charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and is due in court Thursday, police said.
