Charges were filed after a man was stabbed Sunday night during a fight on the Chicago Riverwalk.

A bystander flagged down officers at 7:30 p.m. and directed them to two men fighting in the first block of East Wacker Drive, Chicago police said.

A 47-year-old Blue Island man pulled out a box cutter and slashed a 29-year-old in his face and body, police said.

Both men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the young man was listed in fair condition, police said.

The older man, whose condition was stabilized, was placed into custody. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of battery.
