A Bellwood man is facing charges after allegedly abducting his one-month-old baby from his home last week in suburban North Chicago.

The child’s mother and her friend told officers Adoniel Hoskins, the baby’s biological father, broke into her apartment May 19 and took the baby, North Chicago police said.

Officers found the father and baby in a home in Waukegan, police said. The child was unharmed and returned to the mother.

Hoskins, 23, is facing one felony count each of child abduction and burglary, according to police. He also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

“Things moved very quickly,” North Chicago Police Chief Lazaro Perez said. “One of the responding officers was working to get an AMBER Alert issued for the missing baby, however our officers were able to safely recover the boy before the alert could even be issued.”
