Man fatally shot while parked in West Englewood

The man was in 6500 block of South Claremont Avenue when someone in another car fired at him, Chicago police said.

A man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon while sitting in a parked car in West Englewood.

Another car pulled up in the 6500 block of South Claremont Avenue about 3:30 p.m. and someone inside began firing, hitting the man, 20, Chicago police said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Darrion Stokes.

No one was in custody.
